Eco-Housing is a sustainable habitat and community awareness project that aim to engage urban citizen to environmentally friendly housing and responsible consumption of housing. The project consists of compiling documentary photography of urban architectural housing and conducting residence-based farming workshop combine with eco-residence assessment session. The purpose of doing documentary photography is to bring the photo to design a draft of eco-residence architecture, using the photos and the draft eco-residence architectural design to consult and assess on the current housing with targeted group.

  1. Project progress up to now

Describe the details you did related your project including the preparation process so far. *Details about Who, What, When, Where, Why and How The project first started in May with conducting a project orientation meeting with the project team members. There was not much activity beside a few single meetings with the project team members to discuss on the preparation on residence-based farming workshop, and the planning for documentary photography. As the team do not have an office, therefore all of the meeting has been conducting at the coffee shop. In June, the documentary photography first started in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The project coordinator and a supporting member have traveled around the city to do the documentary photos, capture different categories of housing in Phnom Penh city having the colonial architectural building, 1960s & 1980s architectural housing, and current housing. The project coordinator and the team members haven’t travelled to the target province to collect more photos of some other housing yet, as all of the team members have full-time jobs, there’re a few projects have been organizing in the social-worker-based group GEM at the same time, and the project coordinator need to travel to some provinces for his workplace field research, yet during his workplace field research he has captured some wooden housing in some provincial area. The photos documentary which has been conducted were brought to analyze the different housing categories. There are 6 housing categories have been divided, the 6 categories are from different decades, and cultural and political era of Cambodia. In July, the project coordinator has been working with a graphic designer to make a sketch of the divided categories of housing. The sketch may be used for the assessment session in the residence-based farming workshop as well. Even though, the documentary field photography was not conducted in the targeted provincial area yet, the project team members have been preparing the logistic and workshop agenda for the first residence-based farming workshop. The project coordinator has met with a few independent journalists to introduce the project to them and to seek for their interest writing about the project objective. The project team members have prepared the supplies for the residence-based farming workshop.

  1. Project plan forward

Describe your plan for the time remaining. Any improvements, cautions, and expectations for future activities. The 1st residence-based farming workshop will be conducted during week 2 of August, hopefully on 14th Sunday, half day. The announcement of the 1st workshop will be made on social media platform like Facebook and Instagram during the last week of July. The project team member will also plan to reach out the workshop information to some other targeted people to have their participation. The 2nd residence-based farming workshop will be conducted during week 2 of September, hopefully on 11th Sunday, half day. Yet the schedule might be changed depend on the lesson learn from the 1st workshop. The 3rd residence-based farming workshop will be conducted in September having the lesson learn from pre both workshops. The project team members will travel a provincial area in August to do the documentary field photography to capture more housing photos. The graphic designer will continue working on other graphic material. Starting from May to July, the project team haven’t had much time communicate with the grant organizer. The improvement we may have, is to improve communication with the grant organizing committee.
