Since the beginning of this project, the following activities have been carried out.

  •  Presentation of the project to the 40 community leaders by the project manager. this activity took place on June 6, 2023 in the MAHAMAT meeting room of the town hall of baraka to inform these opinion makers of our project and bring them to accompany it if necessary,
  • Training of 10 journalists from 5 local media (Radio Kivu, Radio Umoja, Radio Mukangi FM, Radio Star and Fizi News 24) on Climate-Smart Agriculture, Agroecology and mentoring by an ecological agronomist consultant. The training was organized in the MAHAMAT meeting room for a period of 5 days from June 7 to 11, 2023. It is to help these journalists produce educationally in-depth reports on the Climate Smart Agriculture approach so that they report daily to small farmers on the crisis due to climate change and its effects on lives and livelihoods that we have trained them.
  • Production of 8 radio programs out of 20 expected by the 10 journalists from 5 local media partners. Since June 12, 2023, these journalists have been reporting in Sebele, Fizi, Mboko, Baraka, Nemba and even by telephone to interview farmers, political decision-makers, actors in the field of the environment, climate, members of civil society on the various subjects they address.

3. Project Plan Forward

The remaining 12 radio shows will be produced over the next 3 months (August, September and October 2023). The evaluation is still maintained for the month of October.

Precision here that we had the funds late (June 1st instead of May 1st, 2023). This has meant that the 4 radio programs planned for 4 weeks are rather produced and broadcast during the last 2 weeks of the month.
