1. Project description

Climate Change crisis has destroyed routine life at global level. Pakistan is facing serious challenge of climate change crisis since long. Floods, rains, rise in temperature brought its bad impacts in routine life of every segments including human, animals, trees, crops, fishes and others. Sindh province of Pakistan is facing heavy floods each year to disturb the routine livelihood, living, earning resources & others. Persons with disabilities are left behind during flood responses, there is dire need to bridge barriers to include persons with disabilities in flood response through environmental education pre
disaster activities.

2. Project progress up to now

NDF Pakistan conducted the activities as planned. The Progress Up to Now is that the 03-04 activities are conducted till mid term. The activity Project Launching Ceremony was organized to engage all beneficiries, staff & stakeholders to introduce the project, its inception, planned activities & any feedback to make it more suitable or beneficial for the community. The stakeholders appreciated the project launch & apprised well to support in the implementation because it was mentioned a unique project for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Disaster Risk Reduction/Management.
NDF has formed DIRC (Disability Inclusive Response Committee), its composition is that 20 OPDs (Organizations of Persons with Disabilities) are members to represent Inclusive DRR at the Provincial level. NDF has Effective engagement Plan DIRC Advocacy/Lobbying meetings with DDMA/PDMA and OPDs in Sindh Province. NDF has organized Training of stakeholders on DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) with District level stakeholders engaged in flood responses like DDMAs, Revenue Department, Education Department, Health Department, Environment/climate change & others. The Training was fully participatory & was highly appreciated by OPDs, DDMA & other concerned department at District Shaheed Benazir Abad.

3. Project plan forward

NDF planned the Project from 01st May 2023 to 31st July 2023, meanwhile we can complete the project activities till October 2023. The fund transfer took time & some other delays caused delay to complete it. NDF will request for two months extension time to make it complete till 30th September 2023. NDF has following more activities to complete the assignment.

1. Training of stakeholders on Contingency plan
2. Awareness Seminar on inclusive emergency response
3. Provincial dialogue on Inclusive DRR Plan
4. Project Closing Ceremony/Lesson Learning Workshop
