1. Project description

In 2010, a community living in a small town in north Colombia was affected by massive flooding associated with climate change and then was displaced. After some months, the population returned and start reconstructing itself. After many years the project volver aims to capture the most significant moments of the reconstruction of the community. We intend to do that using art and community work. The objectif is to build a story of the reconstruction of the community through illustrations made by them with the guidance of an artist. They will do that during 4 workshops. The idea is to let people express themselves about what has been important for them in the reconstruction of their community, expressed then through art. The whole process will be recorded in a documentary.

2. Project progress up to now

We already meet with the local authorities to get the necessary support.

The participants for the workshops and the documentary has been chosen among the members of the community thanks to our long term work with them in other projects.

The team composed by the artist, the production team, the research coordinator as well as the workshop team will be in the town for the workshops and the filming for one week from the 28th of July. Then, the next step will be to make a virtual gallery with the illustrations. We will take you updated on this step of the project as soon as is will be planed

3. Project plan forward

The first workshops will be held from July 28 to 31 in the Municipality of Campo de la Cruz. In parallel, the recording of the documentary will be carried out with the workshops and interviews of the participants. After this, an analysis of the contents obtained from the workshop will be made. And the plastic artist will begin the screen printing work. A second workshop and restoration of the work will be planned for October. Then there will be a screening of the documentary with the community.
